Flavourful. Reasonably healthy. Quick and easy to make. Mutter paneer is a traditional and much loved, vegetarian Indian recipe. You have likely come across it before. Well, here is my homemade attempt to make it without any cream or butter or precise recipe.
Onions is the heart and volume of many curry sauces. In a little oil of your choice, they are cooked diced until translucent or soft. You can also cook sliced onions and when soft just mash them a bit.
Cubed paneer: My family wonders why I like this cheese so much. It doesn’t have much of a taste. Well, I love the texture and it pairs well with a recipe that is quite spicy and flavourful like this mutter paneer and also pakoras with lots of spice on the batter.
Onions cooked through with all the spices put in: cumin seed, red chilli powder, salt, turmeric, garlic, ground coriander. On the top after sautéing the spices is canned tomato paste.
The tomato sauce cooked for a bit. Added water and the peas and cooked for a while more. Plus some more ground coriander and garam masala.
After adding paneer, which doesn’t require a long cooking time and also only softens and still retains its shape.
Serve and eat with roti, pita, naan or rice.
